When we got to the bridge, we found many more golden hour searchers who had already staked out their positions with tripods at the ready, hunkered down on the bridge for just the right moment to snap away (which didn’t really happen this morning).

After taking a bunch of photos we went back to the apartment to see if the others were awake and to make some breakfast. But, first we stopped at the bakery below our apartment to get some coffee. There we saw the biggest meringues I have ever seen. When we arrived back at the apartment, everyone was still fast asleep.

Meringue, Czech style

The sun never did make a grand appearance and the clouds hung around all day long. But it was a grand day of sight seeing all the same, not too hot, a good thing too because we headed for the castle today and it was a steep climb.

We walked walked first over the bridge. The scene there was far different than a few hours earlier. The place was packed and we had to fight our way to the other side. Our first stop being at the John Lennon graffiti wall where we added our own mark, thanks to Freq’s handy lipstick.

We then continued on our way around the hillside and visited all the prescribed tourist hot spots until we collapsed from hunger and thirst at the Klasterni Pivovar Strahov Sv Norbert. Here we dined on Rabbit, Goulash, traditional Dumplings with Meat, and Salmon and drank some yummy beer made fresh there. A great way to finish a busy day of touring.

Walk back after dinner, our apartment is across the river.

After dinner we headed back down the hill towards the bridge and back down to our apartments. A light rain had started, but not one that would really stop you from touring. The bridge was still packed with people taking selfies and the old town square was equally backed with visitors, the street performers entertaining them and the barkers trying to lure you into eateries and live performances of every kind imaginable. The oddest one while not really a performance was still a show for sorts nontheless, were the people sitting in the windows that were getting their feet and legs cleaned by fish. There were some sort of massage places and the foot cleaning by fish was part of the procedure.

On that note, we will close for the night. Another big day of exploring ahead tomorrow.

While the other Lollygaggers were fast asleep from their long travels, we set off early in the morning to chase the light on the Charles Bridge.
