However, we did go out exploring by car.\u00a0 We took a drive into the Springfield section of Jacksonville, the oldest part of the city.<\/p>\r\n\r\n\r\n\r\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">They have some nice old houses there in the historic district. Where some old ones have come down, one builder seems to be really doing a great job with replicating the older style homes. Same styles, nice details and the proportions were not all oversized as you see around Newark. It was very refreshing to see that the neighborhood was keeping some of its charms.<\/p>\r\n\r\n\r\n\r\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">There were some remnants of art deco here and there in the houses and buildings.<\/p>\r\n\r\n\r\n\r\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">We noticed the street signs had a simplified art deco motif on them. We stopped at a little cafe to grab a snack. We later drove around that neighborhood with many outstanding examples of Prairie Style home.\u00a0 That\u2019s right, Jacksonville has more examples of that style of architectures that any other city outside the midwest.\u00a0 As we headed home out of that neighborhood, we took another detour and landed in another Riverside neighborhood, which we\u2019ll have to revisit another time.<\/p>\r\n\r\n\r\n\r\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">We didn\u2019t take many photos today, but I am putting up this one from the other evening. Roosting Pelicans.
