Thur. Sept. 20
We got a great place to stay in St. Wolfgang we had a little balcony and could see the church and a bit of the lake and mountains from it.
The rain finally let up just about dinner time. I took advantage of our night in and the wifi in the room to tried to catch up on the blog a bit last night. Missing one evening’s post can set you back days as many locations we are in say they have wifi, but for some reason it doesn’t reach the rooms we are in. In any case we are mostly caught up.
We woke up early to see that the day looked like it would be a good one for travel and sighseeing.
We went ahead and took the small cog train up the mountian this morning. It is about a 40 min trip up and then another 40 mins down, with the little steam train pushing us up the mountain and holding us back from going down full speed on the way back down.
Once we got to the top we were in the clouds (fog) and there was some snow and ice on the ground. The wind was strong too. Being in mountain top clouds is a lot colder than ground clouds. Anyway all that was to be expected and we dressed as warm as we could before we got on the train. You could hardly see the train when you got off it if you took a few steps away.
There was snow on the ground and icy bejeweled plants.
The clouds went away for a bit to reveal yet another high point with some buildings on it. One being a very large building which was the mountain top restaurant. The views are really amazing just so we quickly took some photos of the land below before the clouds came back.
We grabbed our train back down the mountain and then headed west to our next stop Hallsett.
