Was a great day overall, but we didn’t get to do most of what we planned for the day.
The morning was bright and clear, and the gang went to the pool came back and we did a little last min. shopping in the AM. We then took to the road heading south to see the notorious volcano Eyjafjallajokull (say that 3 times) via the fishing villages of Eyarbakki & Stokkseryri. Â As we headed out of town, we could see the dark gray cloud looming ahead, it was not a good sign of things to come. Â As we got to the fishing villages it just got grayer and soon, it was getting very nasty. Â By the time we got back to the main road the weather was so bad and it was getting late we decided that we should go back to the city.
We made it back just in time to get to Happy Hour at The English Pub. The staff were super friendly and helpful. Â We asked for recommendations for a good meal and were given 2 options, both only a block away from the pub. Â We decided on the Tapas bar. Wonderful is all I can say about that, go there if you are ever in Iceland.
Went back to the pub for the handball game, Iceland against Austria. It was a very close game, Iceland won. It;s always a treat to be in a native country’s bar when they win a tournament.
This is a great way to vicariously participate in your trip. It sounds as if you’ve had a lot of interesting excursions. I like the pictures too. Handball? I guess it’s too cold to play wiffle ball. I hope you’ll teach us the rules when you return.
