After an extra loop around the airport, we made it onto our first route.
Today, we headed east and north up the Rhine river. We’ll be visiting a number of towns and castles along the way. Some of the locations have artifacts that date back to Roman and very early Christian times.
We are now stopped for some breakfast before we hit exploring the Rheinfels Castle in the town of St. Goar.
Next stop was Burg Eltz which is still lived in by the 33 generation family members. It was a great contrast to the Rheinfels ruins. and gave us a great idea of how grand many of these were in their day.
Last stop, the city of Boppartm (Boppard spelled properly with less sleepy brains per comment) which is nicely situated on the Rhine. We are totally beat with just little more than 2 hours of sleep. Menu translation is amusing: we tried an ice chocolate drink, and learned a few words that should come in handy for any menu.
We will post some photos of our adventures tomorrow morning and introduce our traveling companion, Poopsie.
Hope you are sound asleep now and that you have a good night’s sleep. Looking forward to the photos. Have a great second day!
Good to read you guys arrived safely in Germany. I am amazed how far you’ve driven right after an transatlantic flight. The city you are currently in is named Boppard, I think, even though the D, T and M keys are not so close on a qwerty keyboard. Enjoy your time at the neighbours, and see you soon in the Netherlands!
