The following is a dispatch from Poopsie…
Today we took the train and visited the very old and big city of Amsterdam in the Netherlands.
The Netherlands is also known to some as Holland. I had a great day looking at the canals. There were lots and lots of bikes in the city. I had to watch out for them, since I am very little bear it is hard for people to notice such a small bear when going fast on a bike.
Here is a photo of me on a bike with the canal behind me.
I tried one of the Dutch people’s favorite snacks, french fries served with mayonnaise. It was served on a plate and not in a cone, so it was easier to try to keep my fur clean. It was not the same taste as with catsup or vinegar, but it was still very tasty.
Granny saw this car and really liked it. It is even smaller than her little red Smart car. There is even room in there for Grandpaul too!
We went to see the paintings of Vincent Van Gogh at a museum named for him that his full of his works. No photos were allowed there so he could not get his photo taken there. Mr. Van Gogh did not make any pretty pictures with bears in them. But, he did make some with birds and cats. You can probably find them in a book about him or on the internet.
Holland is very famous for its canals so we went on a canal boat ride. I saw many interesting things from the canal. There were house boats, they are houses that people live in on the water, that look like houses! There were some swans in the canals too, they were very pretty, also a little scary to. Granny said it looked like they were looking for some food. I hoped I did not look like food. They are very big birds.
We saw lots of very interesting things on the canal boat ride. Mars was extra happy we got to see this boat. It is often out traveling the seas showing the world just how big these old trading ships were back in their day. The ship was very, very big.
My friend Mars gave me gift to remember him by, a wonderful pair of traditional Dutch footwear, they are shoes made of wood! They are very pretty! The shoes are painted red and have a windmill and flowers on them. Windmills are very popular in Holland because they help keep their country’s land dry. Poopsie really loves his new shoes.
Cool shoes! Looks like you guys are having a great time!
