This is a placeholder entry (hopefully, more to come later) for Paul’s trips to Brazil in July 2016, 2017, and 2018.
Paul took a side trip to Ouro Preto and luckily happened to show up during the city’s Festival de Iverno or Winter Festival. A 1700’s gold rush town, Ouro Preto or Black Gold, got its name from the local gold covered in iron oxide and was an early capital of the state of Minas Gerais.
Stepping outside after dinner, this was the scene from the edge of the parade honoring the city’s founders.
