We left Heidelberg in a light rain and made our way to the Frankfurt Airport with the help of our ever friendly Lady of the Dashboard Navigation. We were sad to part with her, she took good care of us on our travels, suggested when we should take a rest, watch for changing road conditions, or buy some petrol, and so we mused about how we would be missing her the next few days. I do hope I remember how to read a map.
While at the airport we heard that the storm we drove though was a “killer storm” with winds over 100 miles per hour. The photo shows the approaching storm looked like in the town where we at our lunch.
Now in the air, we settle in for 3 hours, we are on our way to Iceland where there is snow and light rain waiting to greet us upon our arrival.
We thought it would be nice to watch a movie made in Iceland called Horses and Men, or maybe it was the other way around. We assumed it would be a light hearted movie of Icelanders told through the eyes of the horses, the description seemed to indicate that.
It was not so lighthearted after all, there were lots of deaths of both horses and men throughout the movie. Maybe the humor was lost on us as there were very little subtitles. It had a happy ending though.
We arrived and picked up our rental car from Sad Cars, yes they are a bit battered, and they don’t charge you if you add more dents and dings. Also, there is none of that last minute finding a filling station to be sure to leave full tank of gas and if not to pay the most crazy high prices possible. Just bring it back emptyish is fine.
We spent the day traveling, to the airport, at the airport, and in the plane. We didn’t get the car until nearly dark so not so many adventures or photos today. Hope to have some tomorrow.
