Well, we’ve been jabbed for a few months now and still rarely go out among the peoples.
That is about to change.

Iceland has once again opened its doors to wandering souls.  So, we are taking advantage and fulfilling a plan we made years and years ago to one day explore the Ring Road and some of those fjordy fingers around the summer solstice.

We’ll be leaving tomorrow June 15, at 8:30 pm and arriving at Reykjavik early in the morning. We’ll head home again July 1.

This will be our 4th trip to the island. The first being nearly 20 years ago. We will hit every season now with this being our first summer trip. Usually our visits have been just a short stays while traveling to and from other locations.

This time, we’ll be renting a camper and spending 15 days on the road.  We plan to explore many new places and poke around in some of the old favorites.  Hopefully, we’ll get to enjoy some of the out of the way hot pots and take a few tours of the local micro brewery.

If the roads and volcanic vapors allow, we’ll also try to get to the currently active Fagradalsfjall Volcano.  In recent days, viewing spots have been closing due to the lava flow enveloping them. We’ll have to see what the options are when we get closer to it.
