Was a long rough day today as we all said goodbye to our wonderful apartment at Room With A View apartments. Up super early 4:30, (way before the Icelandic crack of dawn which comes up at about 10:00 am) to catch and early fight to Scotland after a very late night of  dinner, handball, and drinking. The apartment was centrally located in downtown Reykjavik which made it really easy to explore the city’s great shops. We all  did a little last min. shopping the morning before, we all picked up something made from felt to remember our trip.
We had to do a technical stopover in Manchester first, not fun but made it to Glasgow a bit after noon.

Janet had a meeting at the university at 3:00, so we pulled into town just in time to get her there.  The rest of us went and did one of the most touristy things a visitor to Glasgow could do, we had some tea and snacks at the Willow Tea Rooms. Service is as we remember it from years ago, search the web for reviews you will read for yourself, but was nice to spend some time in the space all the same.

Had a beer and some nice food at MacSorley’s Music Bar.  There was no music, but staff there were fantastic, food was great.
We did try to find a bar playing the next handball playoff. Judging by the look on peoples faces when we asked about where we might be able to catch the game, it appears that there are not many Handball fans in Glasgow.
Decided to call it an early night and catch up on the blog and some much needed sleep.

Thanks Derek for the heads up on the weather! Was a lovely view of the Highlands way off in the distance that welcomed us here.  Could even make out some snow covered peaks on some of them.

Some phone photos for Glasgow Day 1.
