param and Thea gave us such a workout yesterday that we actually slept in this morning. We had just enough time to get some breakfast and took in a few more city sights before hitting the road to the medieval town of Eger.
Eger is noted for making great wine (bull’s blood) and for having the most furthest north minaret. The Turks made it pretty far north.
We decided to take the long way around so we could view the countryside and have a look at some of the villages along the route.
Hungarians are known for their horsemanship. We were lucky enough to be passing by a town that was having a competition. We stopped for a few minutes to watch the event. As we arrived there was a carriage driving agility competition in progress. The skill of the horses and drivers were very impressive.
At night, we hung out in the hotel bar with the cool cats from the neighborhood. They held their liquor pretty well, but three glasses of wine is really their limit.
