We drove to Hungary and met our friend param today. It was great to meet him, he likes little yellow bears. We all chatted for bit and then went out for pizza. It was getting pretty late and we still needed to move on and get a hotel so we parted from param with a plan to meet the next day. We drove on the Budapest, which is the capital of the country.

Budapest is a very big city, with lots of old and new areas. We found our hotel and slept. It was a very busy day.

Next morning param and Thea were waiting for us to come down stairs to the hotel lobby so we could start the day. We started by taking a very fast bus that was packed with people, to a very old and famous church on the Buda side of the river called Danube.

The Church was very pretty inside.

The Danube is a very big river that runs all though Europe. Budapest is really made up of two cities, the Buda side of the river and Pest side of the river. They have lots of bridges to connect the two parts of the city.

The Buda side is full of very high hills and the church is up on one of these hills. There are really great views from up there.

There were lots of interesting things to see up there by the church. Here is a photo of me with some very good musicians. They didn’t speak english. But they were very nice and smiled at me and let me sit next to them to have my photo taken.

param said we could take a Vernicular down the big hill if we wanted. We had never been in one of those before, so we said yes! param got us a spot right in the front of the cab, had lots of glass windows. It was exciting and a little scary too because we were high up. A Vernicular is like a little train car that moves people up and down a big hill on a track.

Here’s a photo of me in Vernicular

After that we walked back up an even bigger hill. It took us a very long time to get up the hill, it was very high. Granny was having a very hard time getting up there, but she made it after all. Once we all made it to the top we could see the whole city and even cities far away.

Here’s a photo of me on the wall over looking the city. Can you see the bridges way down there?

We then went on a boat ride to a very nice place to have lunch, all that walking really worked up our appetites.

After that we took a tram, it is like a small train, to get us back to the center of the city were we then saw the parliament building and some memorial sculptures.

On the way to dinner we saw this sculpture of a police officer, I told him how much fun I was having in Budapest.
